In Kentucky, Pepper este o marca iconica de whisky, produsa in timpul Revolutiei Americane. Familia a construit doua distilerii principale, iar prima dintre cele doua gazduieste astazi Woodford Reserve Distillery si mai tarziu James E. Pepper Distillery din Lexington. In anii 60 industria bourbonului cunoaste vremnuri grele si productia inceteaza mai bine de 50 de ani. In anul 2008 marca a fost relansata, iar prin cercetare istorica povestea pierduta a acestui brand iconic a fost adusa la viata. James E. Pepper 1776 Straight Rye este un alt whisky deosebit din gama James E. Pepper si are un continut mare de secara de aproape 90%, fata de un bourbon obisnuit.
