Talisker i-a nastere prin anul 1830, atunci cand fratii MacAskills construieste distileria Talisker la Carbost, pe malul Loch Harport, in ciuda opozitie localnicilor si clerului local. Prin 1898 Allan decide sa fuzioneze cu Thomas MacKenzie pentru a forma Diluaine-Talisker Distillery Co. Ltd cu toate ca pana atunci Talisker devenise deja unul dintre cele mai vandute single malt-uri din tara.Talisker Dark Storm lansat initial pentru piata de vanzare cu amanuntul Travel, Talisker Dark Storm este maturat in butoaie de stejar puternic carbonizate, oferind note de fum si mirodenii whisky-ului deja intens afumat.
