Povestea Ballantine`s începe încă din anul 1827, cu un vânzător de legume scoțian George Ballantine. Iubirea pentru vin și băuturi spirtoase l-a împins spre arta de maturare a whisky-ului, acesta deschizându-și propriul magazin în South Bridge. George Ballantine oferea transport gratuit în limita a 10 mile, făcând populară sintagma „shop and drop” cu mult înainte de era internetului. În anul 1881 acesta iese la pensie, iar câțiva ani mai târziu moare, afacerea fiind preluată de către copiii săi. Brasil este o băutură cu un spirit liber, ce nu face compromisuri. Aceasta oferă note proaspete de citrice, precum lime brazilian și coajă de lămâie. Finish-ul este unul aromatic, cu note ușoare de vanilie și arome cremoase de Scotch.
