Istoria popularității Cardhu este spusă, în mare parte, în povestea a două femei determinate. Helen Cumming, care a fondat distileria împreună cu soțul ei în 1824 și nora sa, Elizabeth, ce devine cunoscută ca „Regina comerțului cu whisky” după ce a exploatat cu inteligență popularitatea în creștere a scotch whisky-ului spre sfârșitul anilor 1880. Realizările Elizabetei au transformat Cardhu într-o achiziție irezistibilă pentru John Walker & Sons în 1893. Noii proprietari i-au permis cu amabilitate Elizabethei să rămână în „căminul ei ospitalier” spre încântarea localnicilor, care o apreciau foarte mult. Old Cardhu 12 Ani are un caracter strălucitor cu note dulci de miere și este ideal pentru persoane ce își doresc să facă primii pași în lumea whisky-ului. Culoarea aurie precum mierea și nasul intrigant formează o pereche fenomenală cu paleta de arome fine și perfect balansate.
